ETHICS AND PHILOSOPHY

Values
Philosophy and Values have gone together since the early stages of their conceptualization. Philosophy in itself, is generally accepted as the tackling of the fundamental aspects of life such as matters of existence, language, values, rational thought and the like. Philosophy, as defined by William R. Thomas of The Atlas Society - an organization that pursues the principles of Objectivism   is  a comprehensive system of ideas about human nature and the nature of the reality we live in.  (William R. Thomas 2010) whereas values are generally described as personal beliefs about what is right and what is wrong, and also what is good and what is evil and the ability to distinguish between them according to these beliefs. Therefore, values is a major concern of philosophy, as the nature of good and evil, right and wrong, is a major concern in the fundamental aspects of life.

In turn, a persons vision of the world from a philosophical viewpoint is also riddled with the fundamental questions of why and how, making it necessary for students of philosophy to develop their own set of values and how they relate these values to their personal vision of the world. This addresses the individuals concerns regarding how he sees the world and  what it means to the persons values, as ones perception of its environments essentially governs the development of values in a person.

World Vision as defined by A Priori Journal   an online philosophy website   is a system of objective views in the world, and how human rights fit in with the reality that surrounds us. It is the summary of knowledge that represents a system of understanding that relates man to himself and the world. (A Priori Journal 2010)

Personal Vision
For my vision of the world and its relative set of personal values, I hold onto a more77399958_student_testing.doc existentialistic perspective on myself and my surroundings. Following in on Jean-Paul Sartres philosophy on existentialism, I often contemplate the essence of my being, Sartres concepts commandeering my thoughts. I believe everyone to be responsible for their actions, regardless of what the law may seem to dictate.

I believe that we all all have the free will to do what we believe in. Although, most often than not, people would rather act to the  benefit of themselves or someone else. This is due to the compelling consequences of that side of us that tells us to do good, our inert beliefs that separate right from wrong. Despite this, the fact remains that decisions are not made without consequences, and that no judgment is without stress. (All About Philosophy 2010)

In terms of ethics and values, the existentialist perspective had not much developed in the way of the mainstream norms in society. It fairly relies on the moral psychology and to the theory of value which is claimed to be of the self-making belief of existentialism (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2010). This is closest to my personal beliefs and values as I tend to emphasize more on my freedom as an existing human being and that all other aspects of my being relies on existence and freedom.

Critical Analysis
I believe that Philosophy is an integral study and that one should focus more attention to it as opposed to other matters for the  fact that philosophy governs ones understanding of practically everything a person goes through, experiences, interacts with, and whatnot. The thought alone of going by without philosophy is highly unlikely as it is inconceivable. I feel that to understand philosophy is to live, and this thought helps me get by my day to day existence with a lighter load on my mind and shoulders. As for values, I couldnt really put any less thought to it, as I believes it comes intrinsic of us. The ability to tell good from evil is a feat everyone is capable of, but I believe the question lies in what a person does in response to these factors. This perception of the nature of actions and its effects in turn leads individuals to develop their personal outlook on the world and as such extrapolates from them a sense of general perception on themselves and their surroundings.

In summary, these studies just go to show that the observation of an individual directly leads to their perception of the world around them. However they may interpret the factors that go by them, they remain directly responsible for how they adapt themselves accordingly by means of subconsciously taking note of a set of guidelines which they most often allow for them to be led in their decision making process. This is of course still in accordance to the vague set of values which were created since their first state of consciousness.
