CODE OF ETHICS FOR A MEDICAL CENTER

Preamble
A code of ethics may be defined as accepted code of conduct by various staff members in any given organization. A code of ethics in a health care thus serves as a measure of conduct for all affiliates. The ethical behaviors for a health center define existing professional relationships among the colleagues as well as patients and other groups served by the health care centre. The main aims of code of ethics in a health care are to maintain and enhance dignity, overall quality of patients life and provide effective and efficient health care systems.

Code of ethics for senior executives
Health care senior executives have a duty to carry out their responsibilities in a manner that merit the confidence as well as the respect of health care professionals. Thus it is their duty to set exemplary systems of values and ethics. Since female employees have tried their level best to be open and lodge there complaints to the office of human resource manager, it is therefore the duty of management to sit down and assess these grievances and set up appropriate strategies that will protect the rights, interests and prerogatives of each employee, patients and the rest of people served by the Great Health Care Medical Center.

The health care executives of Great Health Care Medical Center have responsibilities to play for their employees that will help address the existing sexual harassment by managers and supervisors and these will include the following
Providing an atmosphere that permits free expression of ethical concerns and set up measures for solving such issues
Creating working atmosphere which discourages all forms of harassment
Provide working atmosphere which promotes ethical conduct by all employees
Come up with appropriate grievances and ways of appealing among other appropriate measures that the management will find necessary for solving sexual harassment by employees of any sex.

The management need to stipulate it clearly that any staff violating the above policies should be vetted and if found guilty necessary actions such as forced resignation, retrenchment, paying fine among others should be employed against such workers.

Some of the rules that the management and human resource department can be guided by to enforce better service delivery include
Supporting programs developed to ensure achieving quality health care
Higher level of commitment to the code of ethics
Ensure team work among the staff
Act as mentors of others in the healthcare quality
Act as agents of change and involve fully in the change process
Integrate training, recognition and satisfaction of customers as well as creating standards for continuous improvement among any other vital rules.

Code of ethics for physicians
Physicians need to exhibit certain level of standards when carrying out their duties in order to uphold required professional ethics in a health care. One of the basic obligations of physicians is to strictly abide by the oaths and code of ethics. The other duties that should be included in the code of conduct are embracing patients welfare and respecting their privacy, work honestly with colleagues and act in a more responsible way since they are stewards of health care. The practice of medicine demands multidisciplinary cooperation and team spirit because their duties require that they interact closely with other health care professionals such as fellow physicians, nurses, and other medical technicians. The interaction between these categories of professionals requires that respect, honesty, and appreciation of each other prevail in a way that does not violate the rights of one another.

Management should ensure that there is no sexual harassment of female staff by male physicians. It is the duty of the managers to remind physicians that the success of Great Health Care Center entirely depends on coordination of physicians, nurses and the rest of support staff is vital and that there is enabling atmosphere for both sex. It will be pertinent to note that physician and other health care providers share equal expertise with regard to moral judgement although physicians may be expertised in technical and scientific matters but this does not in any way give them powers to harass female staff sexually.

Code of ethics for clinical personnel
Clinical personnel are the epicenter of a health center because they are the provider of technical services to the patients. Their conduct while carrying out their duties matters a lot. Maintenance of highest standards of professionalism and ethical principles is quite important for the proper discharge of services in a health care center. What matters a lot is to remind the clinical personnel to strictly a bide by there code of conduct and if this fails then the management should put into place the following ethical rules to guide them in there duties.

Clinical personnel should carry out there duties competently
They shall not misrepresent the credential of their assistants, support staff, and technicians
They shall not delegate there duties to assistants, technicians, support personnel, students on internship and other categories of professionals tasks that specifically requires their professional skills and judgment
They shall not segregate any patient on basis of sex, race, nationality, religion, age, ethnicity or even any form of disability while offering there professional services
They shall inform the persons they serve the nature and possible impacts of services provided
They shall fully maintain and secure records of professional services offered and allow access when required by law
They shall not charge for the services not provide
They shall not reveal any private information about the privacy of the patient unless required by law.
If all these rules with any others are followed effectively then Great health Care  Center shall be able to render more effective and efficient services to the patients, fellow colleague, managers, support staff and the community as a whole.

Conduct of support staff
Although support staff are viewed by some people as people without professional skills, they play key role in deliver of healthcare services. This is a very wrong perception bearing in mind that they comprise of people like clerks, secretaries, among others who are professionally trained. What matters a lot is that each employee whenever senior or junior should be able to work in an environment that is conducive. The existing sexual harassment by physicians, managers, and supervisors against female employees at Great Health Care Medical Center shall not be tolerated at all because it is an indication of harassment which is not acceptable at work place. Each employee is required to carry out his or her duties in a very responsible, reliable and cooperative way and treat each other with mutual respect, trust and dignity.

The support staff should behave in a way that is consistent with the code of conduct. The management may use the following rules in setting up rules to be followed by the support staff
They shall be honest while executing there duties, those in charge of keeping records should not destroy, alter records, or fail to maintain high level of privacy
They shall respect and co-workers, patients, managers and professionals
Security officers shall ensure that the security standards are upheld
Cleaners shall ensure that high level of cleanliness is upheld in all areas within the health centre to prevent chances of spread
Billing clerk shall not overcharge the patients but only charge the amount indicated on the receipt and finally those in food sector should always strive to provide quality food in the right proportions at the right time to patients and other categories of workers.

The proposed rules for each category should be strictly followed by the management of Great Health Care Medical Center to help address the existing sexual misbehavior by the physicians, managers, and supervisors toward female employees. If they are applied fully, each worker will understand his or her boundary in terms of work and penalties that will be taken incase the rule are violated.
