My Ethics

My code of ethics is built on the principals of how I have been raised.  My family life and environment played a large part in how I view the world and others.  In viewing the world and interacting with my siblings and ultimately other people in growing up, I started to form my ethics.  They came from a foundation of humility, and common sense.  There was a need that involved the acceptance of self, by others and of others by self.

My Code of Ethics

To treat others as I would like to be treated

Rules This involves daily interactions with others in which behavior is important in establishing connections.

Principles I have an expectation of fair treatment by others.

Value Is the reward of kindness bestowed and returned.

Explanation It is extremely important to give what one expects to receive.  In this manner moral values form that are good in nature.

To respect how others choose to live their lives

Rules It is a knowing that people have different outlooks and choices about life.

Principles Their choices and decisions may differ from my own, but that does not make them wrong.

Value Is being able to live my life and feel good about who I am.

Explanation We must be aware that every persons life has an effect on our own, no matter how miniscule.  Life in its great mystery has a way of cycling that impacts each and every individual on a level that is closely knit even more so than we can comprehend.

To refrain from being judgmental
Rules In watching situational behaviors of others, I must not judge it from my point of view as every person must learn from their life experiences.

Principles Is an outlook on nobody is perfect.

Value I am free to be me.
Explanation The bible teaches us not to judge others lest they turn around and start pointing out our own faults.  It is an embarrassment that we could all do without as we all make mistakes, and realize that this is not a perfect world because we as humans are not perfect within ourselves.

To accept persons as they are with their faults and shortcomings
Rules People are all trying to figure out whom they are.

Principles Most people spend their entire lives evolving into who they will be from one time and place to another.

Value Those grounded in life, individuals who have a solid foundation from which to grow.
Explanation For true understanding of who we are as a species, we must acknowledge that it starts with individuality.  Most species interconnect by instinct.  The human species has turned from instinctual natures in pursuit of higher learning.  This has resulted in lifelong quests that may or may not be successful or completed at the time of ones death.

To realize that people are only human and life happens
Rules We spend a lifetime from birth to death in finding acceptance for ourselves in being who we are.
Principles It takes a lifetime to come to terms with the person we are.
Value An acceptance of self and finding comfort versus despair in the fact that we are not perfect.
Explanation Living life is not an easy task, especially when you consider social expectations.  What is deemed, as normal, and abnormal behavior in what is acceptable or unacceptable carries a heavy weight for most in constant awareness of our actions which has a tendency to distract from individuality of life.

Group Code of Ethics
Everyone being true to the values of every individual
Rules The ability to realize that every human being has valuable worth and a gift to share.

Principles A nature built upon integrity.

Value Trustworthy encounters which are sincere and fulfilling.
Explanation We need to acknowledge individual worth of every person we encounter in validating their existence and wanting the best for them, as in turn we want others to feel this way about us.  Every person born has a need to feel appreciated in being an asset to society.

Validating of others individuality
Rules It is important to acknowledge others existence.
Principles To share in what one feels and says.
Value The positive energy felt from getting to know others for whom they are, and feeling good about the positive environment that evolves as a result.

Explanation Acknowledging others is as simple as saying hello to strangers when passing by, or striking up conversations with co-workers that you do not know very well.  Some people are shy and quiet.  Being aware of these persons and greeting them is a positive way to validate their existence and value as human beings.  It will also bolster self-esteem.

Open to receive, approachability
Rules One must keep an open mind.

Principles Do not let personal views stand in the way of what someone represents.

Values Strong relationships formed, built on a solid foundation.

Explanation In being approachable, one must be open to receive.  This means having an upbeat and pleasant affect.  Focus is on positive outcomes that bring a smile to the face.  People gravitate naturally to happy people as they yearn to be happy individuals as well.  They feel secure in the knowledge that society views them in a positive light. You are the company you keep. (Saki, 1912).

Creation of an environment with acceptance of all
Rules A positive energy filled with a sincerity of well wishes that permeates unto everyone.
Principles An outlook of putting others needs before ones own in building trust.

Values A fortuitous gathering resulting in people comfortable with whom they are.  New and meaningful interactions in which people seize the opportunity to bond.

Explanation Energy we generate sets the foundation either good or bad of our environment.  When we generate positive energy it sends out signals to people that is received in a welcoming sense of acceptance in our space.  People gravitate naturally to feelings of acceptance and feel good about self in doing so.

Outlook to learn and grow from each other
Rules  The desire to seek out others in asking questions which lead to answers that enhance everyone fundamentally.

Principles Accepting others for whom they are, inclusive of their values, strengths, and weaknesses.
Values We have the opportunity for continuous growth of life, and self.

Explanation Our perceptions are a strong force that depicts how we view the world and in turn make our decisions and choices for our lives by situations we incur.  In order to truly become acquainted with others and be reality based, we must look beyond what we know and feel, instead attaching ourselves to what someone else knows and feels to connect in creating a state of mind that allows for new insight and mental growth.
